A wide range of diseases can affect the horses gastrointestinal tract. Common conditions include gastric ulceration, colic – acute, chronic or recurrent, diarrhoea and weight loss.

Investigations often use a combination of diagnostic equipment including ultrasound, gastroscopy, biopsies, blood work, abdominocentesis, rectal examination and absorption tests.
