Neonatology

Diseases of the neonatal foal can often require specialist care to achieve the best outcomes

Diseases of the neonatal foal can often require intensive specialist care to achieve the best outcomes. We have four dedicated foal boxes which allow us to deliver advanced care for these special patients. The design of these boxes mean that foals can either be kept separate but in view of their dams or with the dams.  Our team of specialists, nurses and interns provide 24-hour care with close monitoring and expert equipment. The hospital clinicians work extensively with our highly experienced ambulatory stud team for more routine conditions and also in the case of dystocia.

We see foals with a wide range of other issues such as colic, orthopaedic or ophthalmological. Often cases are seen by the multi-disciplinary team to achieve the diagnosis and best treatment plans.
